Are your recipes only for bariatric patients?
Absolutely not! After one year post op I reintegrated all food groups back into my diet, crafting dishes high in protein that the whole family can enjoy!
Do you still have restriction?
The simple answer is yes. However, as you progress further post-op, you come to understand and accept that your level of restriction will fluctuate not only from day to day but also from meal to meal. My strategy revolves around minimizing snacking throughout the day and prioritizing protein intake during meals to maximize the benefits of my restriction.
Where do you get your meal prep containers?
I have all my favorite kitchen items and more listed on my “shop my favorites” page.
What was your start weight? How long did it take you to lose the weight?
At my initial consultation with my bariatric surgeon, I tipped the scale at 340lbs, standing 5’5″ tall. To qualify for surgery, I was required to start a rigorous four-month high-protein, low-carb diet. Following approval, I underwent a two-week liquid liver-shrinking diet. On the day of surgery, I weighed in at 298lbs. Fast forward one year and I stood at 175lbs.
I thought we couldn’t have pasta, bread, carbs, ect after surgery?
As always, its essential to consult your bariatric team to determine what’s permitted in your program long term. In my case, we were allowed to reintroduce carbs into our diet six months post-op, with the stipulation that protein is prioritized as the first item consumed.
